The V8 version weighed just a little over 1200kg, which is very light when you consider that the 6 cylinder VJ Valiant weighed just over 1400kg. Both cars had a 111 inch wheelbase.
It was the first ever Australian car to use an alloy engine. This meant significant weight reductions and therefore, better fuel economy.
